HOUSTON—Computer technology giant Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) recently added a suite of direct-view LED displays to its global headquarters just north of Houston. The digital signage network provides immersive experiences, artistic and inspirational pieces, and branded content, all built with LED display technology from SNA Displays. Technology integration company i.e.Smart Systems oversaw the project.

Highlights include interior LED displays in HPE’s lobby, the Fishbowl, the Immersive Theater, and the PlayGround.

HPE’s new lobby display is a 2.5 mm pixel pitch, vertical LED screen used for artistic and mood-setting content. While most lobby video walls are oriented in wide formats, the BOLD™ Interior HPE lobby display stands approximately 28 feet tall and 13 feet wide (3,420 x 1,600). The 368-square-foot screen has approximately 5.5 million total pixels.

The Fishbowl is an immersive installation including two LED walls and an LED floor with glue-on-board pixel packaging, also made with a 2.5 mm pixel pitch. Each face within the Fishbowl is approximately 7 feet by 11 feet with a resolution of 900 x 1,440 pixels. Also built from SNA Displays’ BOLD™ Interior product line, the Fishbowl consists of a total of 3.9 million pixels.

The Immersive Theater includes a new BRILLIANT™ Interior LED video display that is concave and curves around HPE’s in-house cinema-style room, equipped with stadium seating. The display has a 15-foot radius and employs a 1.25 mm narrow-pixel-pitch (NPP). At approximately 7 feet tall and 50 feet wide with a resolution of 1,800 x 12,160, the video wall is comprised of nearly 22 million pixels. Content utilized in the room was custom-created to provide the experience of complete immersion. To enhance the Immersive Theater experience, i.e.Smart Systems integrated a 15.5-channel theater sound system. On the outside of the theater is a new, convex-curved LED video wall with a 13-foot radius. At 6’0″ x 10’6″ wide, the display employs a 1.25 mm pixel pitch and a resolution of 1,400 x 2,560 pixels.

The PlayGround, a space designed as an executive briefing center, has a 1.25 mm pixel pitch video screen that’s 7’5″ tall by 13’1″ wide (1,800 x 3,200), giving it 5.8 million total pixels. Included in the space are interactive screens and tables, informative signage displays, Oculus experience systems, and even HPE/ Mercedes’ full-sized F1 Car located at the entrance.

“HPE has created an atmosphere that conveys ‘cutting edge technology’ but in a way that really blends well within its architecture,” said Jason Helton, executive vice president at SNA Displays. “A well-integrated digital display network works when the pieces feel natural instead of jarring, when you sense you’re in a high-tech space before you’re even consciously aware of it. That’s the key to incorporating LED technology into a brand-enhancing experience, and this project is a perfect example.”

SNA Displays will provide a large-format exterior LED spectacular at the HPE campus in 2022. For more information, visit the Hewlett Packard Enterprise portfolio page on the SNA Displays website.
